個人的にはMonsterは実際の役者を起用してしっくりくる数少ないアニメだと思う。おそらくキャラクターの年齢を引き上げはするだろうけどね。それに実際の場所をモチーフにしてるからそこら辺を下手に弄らなければ成功すると思うよ。

IMHO Monster is one of the few animes that could fit perfectly with real actors. Most probably they will age up the characters. Also most of the backgrounds were drawn over pictures of real locations, if they don't change much, it will become a great succes.

個人的には、アメリカ人であっても、アジア系の役者が主役になってほしいな。

Personally I'd really like to see an Asian actor get the lead role, even if he's American.

ギレルモ・デル・トロは漫画版に沿って作るって断言してるからね。ドラマ化する条件として、原作者がすべてのエピソードの脚本をチェックするって話だよ。

Guillermo del Toro has already stated that it will be EXACTLY like the manga (which the anime was as well). The original author will get to review the script for every episode of the first season as part of the deal to make the show.

最高にも最悪にもなりえる話だな。前者であって欲しいけど。アニメは素晴らしかったけど、実写化してその雰囲気を保てるのかは未知数だね。でもすでにかなりの時間と資金をつぎ込んでるみたいだからポシャらせはしないと思う。たぶんプロットだけMonsterから拝借したオリジナルのドラマになるんじゃないかな。

This could be a really good thing or a really bad thing. I'm optimistic for the former. This anime is wonderful, I just don't know if they'll be able to pull off the atmosphere as well in live-action. Sounds like they are too invested to fail though. It will probably be kind of its own show, only taking the plot from Monster.

I would be worried if it was anyone but Del Toro. He's a big fan of the manga, and actually spoke with Urasawa (the author) to get his approval of the project.

Monster was one of the absolute best mangas I ever read. I'm soooooo exited and hopeful they'll do it justice.

でも誰にヨハンの役が務まるかな？ 人を魅了させると同時に背筋に寒気を感じさせるような人物じゃないと。 観客も彼の術にはまることによって、彼が怪物のような恐ろしい存在であると認識できないとね。 それにはトップレベルの演技とセリフ回しが必要になるよ。

Who on earth could pull off Johan's character though? You need someone who sends shivers down your spine and at the same time completely charms you. The audience needs to fall for his manipulations, and simultenously realize what a horribly monstrous, distorted person he is. And for that you would need some really top notch dialogue and acting ...

Monsterも大好きだったけど、一番は20世紀少年だよ。もしこれが成功すれば彼の他の作品にも注目が集まるかもね。俺はPlutoのリメイクがみたいな（でもそうするとリメイクのリメイクになるのかｗ）

I loved Monster, but 20th Century Boys was my favorite. Maybe if this is successful, they'll look at his other works too? I'd love to see a remake of Pluto (so a remake of a remake, hahahaha). :)

これは興味深いな。Monsterはすごくシリアスな作品だし、他のアニメでよく見られるような陳腐な表現もない。実写にしてもいけそうだしだけど、少しペースが遅かった気もするな。

Huh, interesting. Monster is very much a serious show, rarely any stereotypical anime elements. It could work well live-action, though it was a bit slow-paced from what I remember.

Monsterは素晴らしいシリーズだけど、アニメの実写は怖いものがあるな。

個人的にはカウボーイビバップも実際の役者で映えると思うけど、そのコンセプトでやってたFireflyは微妙だったからなぁ。 GTO（一番好きなアニメ）、デスノート、セーラームーン、蟲師の日本での実写版はどれも…だったし。 ジャッキー・チェンがシティーハンターの映画を作ったけど、アニメからのアダプテーションとしてはそこそこ楽しめてもお世辞にも真面目な作品とは言えなかったし、ジャッキー・チェンで持ってるようなもんだったからね。

SFアニメの多くは実写にしたらスゴイだろうなぁ。 攻殻機動隊も最高のドラマになるだろうけど、予算だけでハリウッド大作を超えちゃうだろうな。 間違いなくテレビ史上最高の作品だったよ。

それに銀河英雄伝説もかなり良かったから、実写化すればバトルスター・ギャラクティカなんて目じゃないだろうね。

でも全てはことが順調に運べばの話で、きっと誰かがしくじるんだろうけど…

Monster is an amazing series butI am scared of real life remakes of anime. I also was of the opinion that Cowboy Bebop would work amazingly with real life actors, however, Firefly was incredibly mediocre and it essentially took the concept. The Japanese life action spinoffs of Great Teacher Onizuka[1] (imo one of the best mangas of all time), Death Note[2] , Sailor Moon[3] , Mushishi[4] , etc. were just so incredibly "meh". Jackie Chan also made a City Hunter[5] movie, I think that was the most entertaining real life movie I ever saw created from an anime but even that wasn't to be taken seriously and was only good because of Jackie Chan. Just think about how awesome many of the science fiction anime would be as real life versions. Holy shit, Ghost in the Shell[6] would make an absolutely amazing series but is full of scenes that would make a hollywood movie budget look too small. It definitely is one of the best things ever created in television history. And Legend of the Galactic Heroes[7] is such an amazing show, it would blow series like Battlestar Galactica out of the water. If only it was done well... Unfortunately, I'm sure someone would fuck it up.

何人かが”アニメが元になって”って言ってるのが気になるんだけど、アニメがオリジナルなんじゃなくて、浦沢直樹の漫画が原作ね。でも今まで見た中でもっとも原作漫画に忠実なアニメだったと思う。マッドハウスはいい仕事をしたし、HBOにもそれを期待するよ。ゲーム・オブ・スローンズの出来には大満足してるからね。

Ok it bugs me that everyone is saying 'based on the anime'-- the anime isn't the original, it was adapted from Naoki Urusawa's manga. That said, it is one of the most faithful manga to anime adaptions I've ever seen. Madhouse did a fantastic job, and I expect HBO will too. I've been very pleased with how well done A Game of Thrones is being done.

アニメは『逃亡者』と『羊たちの沈黙』をミックスして『ツインピークス』をひとつまみ足したような感じだったね。デル・トロが実写を監督するなら俺は宗教的な熱心さをもって観るよ。

The anime is like The Fugitive mixed with Silence of the Lambs and a dash of Twin Peaks. Have Del Toro direct a live-action version of this and I will watch it religiously.

期待を高めすぎる前に言っておくと、デル・トロはこういうプロジェクトを始めても最後まで終わらせない癖があるからね。本格的にプロダクションに入るまでは、彼の言葉は話半分に受け取っておいた方がいい。

Before you get too excited, Del Toro has a habit of starting these kinds of projects but never seeing them through. Take everything the man says with a grain of salt until it's actually seriously in production.
